Bruno Mars - Just The Way You Are (Elektra)

There are no challengers to Bruno Mars (Elektra). Just The Way You Are is the top Internet track for a fifth week. Though down across the board, Mars remains more than 9 million impressions and 2,000 plays ahead of second-ranked Rihanna (Def Jam), who gains over 200 plays to make a #5-#2 jump. At Alt/Rock, the Black Keys (Warner Bros.) keep the run for Mumford & Sons (Gentlemen Of The Road) to a single week. Brad Paisley (Arista Nashville) dethrones Darius Rucker (Capitol Nashville) after a 2-week run at the top of Internet Country. Last week, the Black Eyed Peas (Interscope) narrowly missed out on a Top Add win, but this week they gain another 32 broadcasts to win with The Time (The Dirty Bit). Thanks largely to new VEVO on-demand plays, Nicki Minaj (Young Money) posts the biggest impression increase, up over 6 million.

Santana
Photograph (w/ Chris Daughtry)
Arista
It's a gamble taking on an iconic band such as Def Leppard, but Santana - with help from Chris Daughtry, pull it off. Staying true to the classic original, this version comes off as more of a tribute than a cover. Daughtry is no Joe Elliott, but his vocals are strong enough. Comparatively, this one is a little light on the percussion, and the guitar riffs can occasionally overpower the vocals, but otherwise it's a good listen and the source material withstands both this reworking and the test of time. Paramore
Playing God
Fueled By Ramen
From their third album, Brand New Eyes, it's clear Paramore has no intentions of going soft; Sample lyric, "The next time you point a finger I might have to bend it back or break it." The Only Exception, their most recent trip up the charts, landed at #15. This one has the potential to get at least as high. It has enough fire and fury to satisfy the tweens, without alienating older listeners - edgy, but not over the top. Hayley Williams uses her powerful vocal to deliver her lyrics with spunk. A-

Rihanna
What's My Name? (w/ Drake)
Def Jam
It's Rihanna, and her second single from Loud makes up for the dreck that is her current Top 10 entry, Only Girl (In The World). No doubt it's an out-of-the-gate-hit, it's also a must listen for any fans of the format. This is Rihanna at her best - delivering a sexy and suggestive record with a strong vocal and a beat to match. Drake has a guest appearance, and he adds spark, but Rihanna is the star and she's never overshadowed. What more could you ask for? A+

La Roux
In For The Kill
Cherrytree
La Roux revisits and repackages the early 80s and make records that sound like one variation or another of Gary Numan's superior Cars. Lead singer Elly Jackson's voice is distinct enough, but their follow-up to Bulletproof focuses too much on the poppy, repetitive electronic sound which ultimately destroys it. In a format where originality would be embraced and a welcome breath of fresh air, La Roux relies heavily on arrangements from a bygone era that were done better the first time around. Hopefully they can rejoin us in this present and come up with something that can be called their own. D

Lee DeWyze
Sweet Serendipity
RCA
This comes from the season 9 American Idol winner's debut album Live It Up. DeWyze sounds out of breath on this okay track (late to the recording studio, maybe?), but there's little else going on to differentiate him from the recent A.I. pack. He's a likeable guy, and you sure wish him well, but he's playing it too safe. The lyrics are fine and the melody is familiar-combine that with lack of name recognition and there's really not much to compel radio to play it. I wish I had been surprised and stumbled into something great, but really, it's what I've come to expect from A.I. winners of recent seasons. C-

Ke$ha
We R Who We R
RCA
Ke$ha sings about what she proclaims to know, and she's figured out what works for her - thumping dance tracks about partying, men, partying, sex and partying. Her latest, a recent Top Add winner, should perform just as well as her still-biggest hit Tik Tok. In a recent interview, she dedicated the song to gay teens. "Just know things do get better and you need to celebrate who you are," she recently told Rolling Stone, "Every weird thing about you is beautiful and makes life interesting. Hopefully the song really captures that emotion of celebrating who you are." If you're still up for Ke$ha's party, this one is worth checking out. A
